Job Description

The University of Washington Department of Rehabilitation Medicine invites applications for musculoskeletal physiatrists with expertise in spine and general musculoskeletal (MSK) medicine to join our Division of Sports & Spine. This will be a full-time, clinical track appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor (non tenured). Salary and academic appointment will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. This position would have an annual service period of 12 months (July 1-June 30) renewed annually, and the individual selected may begin as soon as August 2022, subject to timely approvals and credentialing.

The clinical environment is an outpatient practice embedded within an academic department. The emphasis will be on a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, with a focus on spine medicine. This position practices in a collaborative and multidisciplinary academic environment. This work requires strong collaboration with treatment team members, including the surgical spine team. 

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. 

The Sports & Spine division in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is a well-established group practice, with 16 faculty members across several clinic locations. We provide the highest quality patient-centered care, with each faculty member offering a unique contribution to the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have

  • an MD, DO, or foreign equivalent
  • or be eligible for full medical licensure in the state of Washington
  • Board certification in physical medicine and rehabilitation
  • successfully completed fellowship training in sports medicine or spine/pain
  • experience with procedures including but not limited to lumbar spinal injections
  • expertise in rehabilitation medicine, with strong clinical experience

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or foreign equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
