Orthopedics - Assistant Professor or Instructor
The Department of Orthopaedics at Emory University School of Medicine is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor faculty position to grow their multidisciplinary musculoskeletal research program focusing on sports medicine, neuroscience, injury biomechanics, and human performance.
Candidates for the Assistant Professor position must hold a doctorate degree or equivalent with highly productive post-doctoral training. Candidates must demonstrate national prominence and scientific leadership in one or more of the above research areas. This includes a clear and prolific record of scientific publications as well as a detailed knowledge of advanced experimental techniques in injury biomechanics and human performance. Experience with advanced analytics including machine learning, AI or related statistical modeling of human movement data is desired. The ideal candidate will have experience in coupled biomechanics/neuroscience as it related to injury epidemiology with a preference toward injury prevention, rehabilitation, and sport performance research. Experience with neuroimaging, EMG/EEG/MEG neuromodulation, software engineering, and best-practice analytical methods for managing, storing, analyzing, and visualizing biometric data to facilitate research goals is also preferred.
Successful candidates will be expected to develop collaborations with clinician scientists in the Department of Orthopaedics and within the musculoskeletal research community. They will also be encouraged to interact with broader collaborative community of researchers and clinicians at Emory University as well as other partnering institutions. Candidates must be capable of independently formulating and administering large clinical research studies aimed at answering meaningful scientific questions and affecting clinical outcomes.
