JOB SUMMARY :
Assists orthopaedic providers and residents in the provision of safe and effective treatment of orthopaedic injuries with occasional guidance. May go to OR, Floor, etc. to assist.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Assists orthopaedic surgeons and residents with preventing or correcting disorders of the locomotor structures of the body.
  • Monitors cast room area and equipment.
  • Instructs patients/families on cast/splint care.
  • The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.
  • Helps organize and distribute inventory of medical supplies for the Orthopaedic Clinic
  • Application and removal of all cast, splints and immobilization devices.
  • Suture and staple removals.

Vanderbilt Orthopaedics cares for patients with a variety of musculoskeletal injuries, chronic conditions, deformities or trauma. This clinic sees approximately 60,000 patients per year and has the following specialty areas: Trauma, Oncology, Foot & Ankle, Podiatry, Total Joint Reconstruction and Preservation, Spine, Sports Medicine, Hand, General and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

Our team includes physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, cast techs, medical assistants, athletic trainers, patient service specialists, managers and supervisors.
